There was a famous street rod built out of a Studebaker called "Frankenstude" that had some of the trickest scissor doors I have ever seen. They pivoted at the rear lower corner instead of the front upper but the effect was the same. There was some serious engineering involved to make them pop out a foot then rotate up. It was all billet with roller bearings and trick stops and gas assist... you do not want to go there unless you have some serious fabricating ability or lots and lots of cash to have it done.
BUT, what Super says is definately within the grasp of us mortals... I have often day-dreamed myself about how to make gullwing doors work and think these could be done in a home shop.
If anybody (starmember) is doing something like this, we would LOVE to see some pics of how...
