Went to a local cruise-in last night in my bus. Mostly high dollar street rods and vintage muscle cars. The only other VW there was a young girl's mid 70's "rat look" bug (no top or windsheild, no fenders, primer black, scary mechanicals
). I pulled through and went to the far end away from the crowd... by the time I got out, the crowd was coming to me! Had a steady stream of folks all night, lots of positive comments, LOTS of questions... but the best part was
nobody asked "why?"
they just dug what I was trying to do! It felt good coming from folks with serious $ in their rides, most of them "pro built". There is a lot of satisfaction in being able to say I put together something really different with my limited skills in my own garage... the rest of you guys out there in the "construction phase", take heart, it is worth it when even just one person says "man, that is
cool !"
