Check the code stamped into it. If it is AV, you have a true Type 181 gearbox. The whole trans is exactly the same as a late Bug trans except for the R&P and the output flanges.
The T181 will usually have the strongest "O" type 4.12 R&P. The flanges are the same spline as Bug, but they take the larger Bus CVs.

The only upgrades you need to do is change out the stock fine tooth 3rd and 4th for Bus 002 gears, and install a Superdiff or a ZF or Quaife.
