Yes, the decklid would be from a '71 sedan in the Super Beetle realm. (The '71 Super convertible had its own unique lid in a 7-7-7-7 louver pattern before VW switched to a 7-6-6-7 pattern for all German- and Mexican-built Beetles and Super Beetles.) The decklid like Laz's was also used on the '71 standard Beetle.

I don't know standards nearly as well but I believe they were used some from 1968-70 also. Perhaps, they were used on convertibles. (Earlier lids had that louver pattern for 'verts only but the lid itself was different.)

I remember Jake Raby said once he liked that lid the best with the DTM. I think it had something do to with the louvers being longer and more centered even though there were fewer columns of them. I do know none of my four cylinder head temps ever approached a high temp much less a critical one.

I also like the looks of the lid.
