Alex
those are really nice !! what is the difference between your heads an the JPM heads ? what cylinder/pistons do you use for 4 inch bore ? can a type 1 case be modified for 4 inch bore stud spacing ? |

Not yet, but aproximately in two months we make few prototypes and test them on a typical street/strip beetle engine.
Stock case cannot be modified to wbx pattern spacing and 4" bore with success, some have done but it much work. Most of us use WBX, Autolinea or TF-1/Scat/Autocraft case. I am using TF-1 case. I use LN engineering 4" Nickies and JE pistons, but there is also AA, JPM and autocraft iron cylinders. http://www.lnengineering.com/whynickies.html http://jpmotorsports.se/ms/ms/j-p-mo...-90000825-p-3/ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifie....php?id=117541 http://www.autocraftengines.com/components.html Price will be no more than 1800€ / pair no matter which bore, but you have install your own valvestuff - I recommend 117mm long type 4 valves, regular highperformance seats and guides, JPM springs + retainers or CB VW650 stuff. Looks like pauter rockers are easiest to adapt if you want to spread the valves, to get fit bigger valves. You can move exhaust rockers at least 6-7mm outwards and intake rockers 2-3mm inwards easily.
Pauter rocker shafts has two lockring grooves at exhaust rocker shafts and bolt thread at ends. |

Possibly we get first head pair out of oven in a two next months, for the test engine.

Nice work Alex! The only "negative" I can see is that there are only 2 holes for the exhaust header. This has always been a weak spot with high performanceaircooled engines. Funny, that ALL the new heads that are on the market do not adress this. Eventually, they will all leak. For those who will argue that all type 1 headers have a 2 bolt mounting, yes, they do. But why not make it better? It would be easy to modify any header with a better flange.

There have been a lot of suggestions, and most of them can be done with little or no extra price.
Adding threaded holes for header flanges are easy, no problem at all. More work needs 910 style intake, chevy rockers, angled exhaust valves etc. |
