Waxoyl rustproofing

I got the Waxoyl starter kit to rust proof over my chassis that has epoxy sealer and paint. Plan is to go into doors, quarter panels (front/rear), heater channels, and front cross members. No carpet. No door panels. I'd appreciate tips for application on a bug. Has anyone done this?

I have the same thing (with free case ) which I bought lastyear when I stripped and painted the rear half of my Karmann. I'm nearly done with the front now so I'll soon be Waxoyling.

2 tips, the extension probe that is for pulling through sills, etc. could use a little more detail at the nozzle end, to get a more even spray pattern.

And Waxoyl itself is better applied when warmed slightly, it clings even better.

I'm looking forward to this. I'm going to do the doors before I refit them, so the excess can flow out of the drain holes without too much mess.

The worst bit about Waxoyl is the smell that can take years to fade.

Matt

I already shot it and you're right, what a smell. Well now the wife is even further away from the garage.

My tips are to:
* thin it out per instructions and keep it very warm while using the extension tip to do the channels. I used the extension after spraying everything else, but it has to be very warm and well thinned to spray well. I got a big discharge from the channels later in the day under 80F heat. uke:
* to do channels, insert as far as possible, then spray while pulling back.
* use the normal sprayer to do everything you can as it sprays much better.
* don't use this stuff until all your other work is done -- it's wax and will get all over you if you still need to do work in a treated area.
* spray very sparingly. thicker is not better, just more of a mess.
* keep a hot bucket of water available to keep the canister hot during application
* wear gloves and dust mask as the stuff is kindof nasty

Rust be gone,
Bill
