Type 4s have been known to drop the sodium filled exhaust valves. High quality stainless aftermarket valves are the cure and much cheaper than the sodium valves.

Type 4s are well known for dropping valve seats. Usually in overheated bus engines.

Any head rebuild should include new aftermarket seats installed by a competent machine shop familiar with these heads and new valves and guides. The perfect time to upgrade your valve sizes!
