Any info on Red9 design front coilover ?

Hi

My imported '59 lowlight ghia has failed the MOT on lower trailing arm bearing play (plus king pin play).

The beam is narrowed a fair amount, and consequently, the turning circle sucks !

I don't know whether to just try and sort out the bearings issue with new urethane bushes or go back to a new full width beam and startover ?

I've read with interest about the red9 kit that some of you have installed.

Are there any updates from you guys on how this kit works on the street ? ?

Any issues ? Any help good or bad would be appreciated !!!

anyone got any feedback on this now???
my current setup of a puma beam and koni red is giving a pretty harsh ride and i reckon a change is in order. I'd say the front end of the bug is too light to make the most of the konis!!
any ideas

Actually, I did install them on my car, a 550 spyder.

I had a few problems, one, the bottom bush had some slag or something in it and siezed on my shock mount stud. I had to destroy the bushing to get it off (it was halfway on). Try to find spax bushes in the states

Simon said he is sending one, I hope it gets here soon... I used a spax bushing form an old mini that is close to working.

I had to use spring spacers to get my car level, as I think the springs were too short. I was able to buy std. 1 7/8th spacers from Carrera who makes roundy-roundy car shocks.

The ride seems a bit springy, I've got to fiddle with the dampening controls... The car is 1300lbs total, so I may have to go even lighter than the 125lb springs on there now. It did put the car ride height perfect, and it's a snap to change.

If it helps: I had 110lb springs on my speedster. For hard driving these were a bit soft as the nose dipped a lot under heavy braking! Try this test to see how much it dives before you end up with a car that (literally) stands on its nose...

Got it set up a bit better, and those spacers helped.

Actually, the front end gives quite a nice ride. Some bumps that Jar my mini get soaked up nicely with this kit. I think it was a good buy here.

The only problem I see is that it's so easy to set it low, you don't realize how much crap is *higher* than the bottom of your car until you try. I've cranked it back up from "slammed" twice now, and I can safely drive out of my driveway

Are there different lengths in this setup? I'm curious about the difference compared to stock height.
I'm thinking of this setup for a Ghia, but I would need to know how much lower it will be...

It's either this setup or an adjustable front beam

Are their different sizes, I think yes. When I ordered, he asked me to measure my total uncompressed shock body length.

He had stock, lowered n inches and n+X inches... I think I got lowered +1. I just got my phone bill, and it was 34.80 to call the UK from the US for 15 minutes! Yow! If I were you, I'd send email first
