Got the bus back painted

http://community.webshots.com/user/volkaholic

Looks good , Im about to put the windows in once the paint cures up at the end of the week, but the shop did f*** up alot of dings in the side, which im very mad about, but after the 9 coats applied of 150$/gallon subaru wrx silver and rally blue there isnt much i can do except wait until i shave the door handles and get the bottom repainted, *sigh* enjoy. Carbonfiber mirrors should be here in a day or two and Im mirror tinting the windows now. HERES A BIG QUESTION, Headliners, What have you out there done with your rides, stock vinyl looks kinda tacky for me, not too germanlook, I was looking into other options but I need to decide fast before i put the windows in, Can i paint the existing vinyl or use some felt like or velour cover?

Looks good
I would dye the interior/headliner silver to match the paint.
Dupli-color Vinyl and fabric dye is an excellent product, check their website for color choices. We did the wifes 73'super headliner in 85' it still looks the same. i can e-mail a pic if you want.

A friend and I did the headliner in my car. J-Bugs has a video that comes with their interiors that is good. It' show's a bug headliner install but it should be alot of help.

If you could send a pic or just insert it in a reply to this thread that would be awesome, And when you mean dye is that the duplicolor spray for vinyl? I really was hoping to put the windows in ASAP, so headliner was a thought, but not manditory, I was even thinking to see if anyone had glued the felt type found on new cars to the vinyl. Stock headliners run 140$ and they have like velour and tweed for 200+ and thats from california, so i dont know the quality, installation or how long its gonna take to get here....

I can tell you from recent experience that any headliner is a 2 day job. Its not steady work, just plodding along.
The OEM vinyl & fabric spray is what we used from Dupli-color. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/vinyloem.html
If the headliner has no tears and just looks tired, I would dye it. I can e-mail you a picture, I don't have a place yet to post them on the web.

The silver/blue looks good, real good! I'm anxious to see the c/f mirrors. Does whoever you are getting them from have similar mirrors for a Type I?

You can email me the pics to kra710@hotmail.com Bullyboy if you can Thanks.

Actually they are universal F1 style mirrors I found on ebay. I thought it would give a racing look. They were like 75 with shipping included on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33649

The seller lists them under all these makes and models I realized so the classification really doesnt mean anything, i did look around and they are real carbon fiber, Ill post pics as soon as i get them,, Oasis where in b'more are you at, I go to College Park

Hell no, Im mad, Im making him redo the doorjams which look hooorible. That weld is gonna really piss me off everytime i open the door so i need to fix it. Why didnt they grind the welds down for the fenders, I just dont understand. I figure its too late, I never will take it there again, and Im shaving the handles in a year or two, so at least I have it all sealed up. Now really prestigious bodyshops will actually paint it since the harder work is done.

Got the Mirrors, Pretty small , But heck I cant see anything with the stock bus mirrors, At least these will look cool. I will try to put some pics up as soon as I Put them on the bus, YES these are real carbon fiber and look awesome for 60 bux, I am happy. These would be perfect on a beetle. I wish I had one to put them on!

Finally got an online account so I can post a pic.
Check out our album its the third picture in.
73 super album
This is the headliner, I folded it over so you can see how grungy the inside was. The color stays nice and bright and doesn't stain like the original. As you can see the off white on the edge that was under the rubber
