Can I advance my dissy by 90degrees then retard my leads to suit?
I'm just finishing my install of my type 4 in my bug, and have fitted an aftermarket oil pressure sender. Unfortunately this clashes with the condenser on my 050 dissy so I cannot time it in correctly. Can I rotate the dissy by 90/180 degrees and then swap the ignition leads to the correct places to maintain firing order? This would then allow me to adjust the dissy and time it in. I'm not really prepared to lose either sender or dissy....

Hi
Im not sure if the 050 has retard on #3 or not, that would be the only problem I could see, you can also knock the pin out of the drive dog and rotate 180, this would keep the retard in the correct place. Steve

I think the 050 doesn't have the #3 retard like the stockers and 009. You can also pull out the distrubuter drive shaft (the part in the motor that is driven by the crank gear) and rotate it a little and reinstall.
