Track control arms

I wonder if any kind person can answer me the following question please.
I'm going to update the early three stud macpherson struts (pre 73), for the later two bolt macpherson struts (74 on).
So are the later control arms the same as the early Mk 1 Golf ( Rabbit I think in good ole USA)?
Any body point me in the right direction please.

They are nothing like each other. The Rabbit/Golf I has a three point control arm.
