A couple of weeks ago I took out the 1776 and started collecting the missing parts for the EJ20 conversion. Engine and gearbox out; Bought some EFI parts; Testfitting the EJ20 with adaptorplate to the beetle IRS gearbox; Measuring the height for the custommade intake manifolds; VW Digifant (Golf2 GTi 16V) fuelpump and filter unit; Megasquirt MS2 V3.57 ECU and wiringloom; Lasercut plates for the intake manifolds; Now waiting for some parts (headers, triggerwheel) and testfitting the engine in the T1 *edit 22:38.. just bought!

Hey Alain,
The EJ20 with single ohc looks nicely compact, but why didn't you use a WBX 2,1 ? Nice pics! Cheers, Walter |

Walter,
I think/believe that the Subaru 2L 16V engine is more refined/economical/more common then the 2100 8V WBX engine.

Nice.
Serpentine belts, service intervals and 15-20 years of development help too. Conversion cost is the negative over the WBX for similar output |

Total cost will be in the region of 2500,- euro and that includes the engine, Jenveys, Megasquirt, radiator, clutch, adaptor plate, flywheel, etc
