Arrow handbrake cables

I just recieved my 944 brake parts from Kerscher. Balljoints, spacers and 944 ends. Does anyone know how much of the beetle cable must be cut off in order to crimp on the 944 ends.
thanks
Erik

You are going to have to guessamate. Since I am going to have to do this, this is how I am going to do it. I think it is pretty close to stock bug length if I remember correctly. Put the bug cable on and tighten the nuts at the emerg brake handle about 3 turns. Remember a new cable will stretch. Run it back through every thing and mock up the rear parking brake. It is real close in there. I hope the adapter is longer than the stock Porsche unit or there may not be enough length. If the cable goes past the mounting point on the brakes a 1/2 inch or more this is good. You cut off the VW end leaving about 1/2 inch of excess cable. You then crimp on the new end and you are good to go. If you need more length you can cut down the stepped cone which comes out of the hub for more length. The end of the stepped cone needs to radiused inside to match the radius of the VW outer brake cable connecting cable. This will help center the cable and prevent binding. The final thing is to slip a hose over the cone to outer cable connection and secure it with hose clamps to ensure proper alignment and seal out the elements. I used a stock cable and if I remember right the length required is very close to stock. Hope it helps.
