optimum set up for my car

I have a 1970 stadard beetle, and I want to do a 944 rear suspension and brakes all the way around. I plan on narrowing the front beam, and using CB dropped spindals. I want to go with cup 2 wheels 17x7 and 17x9 with 205/40/17 and 255/40/17.

What would be the optimal set up ie. year model of doner car, turbo car or non turbo car.

Does every thing bolt up on the rear including brakes?

With using the 944 trailing arms and brakes how much will it push out the track? How much will it reduce the need for spacers on the rear? What thickness of spacer would be needed with this type of set up?

How much should I narrow my beam and what size of spacer would be best to retain all or most of my turning radius?

I am going to be going with wider fenders so pushing the wheels out is not that much of a concern.

Thanks Mike

to not have to rehash it, this is covered in detail in previous posts and in tech articles. just do a search through the brakes and suspension forums.

buy weels with the right offset- narrowing your beam sucks for handling.
