Full flow Oil filter "kit"
I have had my eyes set on a Aircooled.net kit, but some one said i should go with the Berg kit.
could some one direct me to where i can look at this kit, and where i might purchase it? I could not see any pics of Bergs kit on there site, or prices. Any opinion on the two? Thanks Jonathan |

I had a Bugpack spin on filter adapter with the over sized oil pump gears.
Never had a problem with it. Although my engine did blow up. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Boygenius that's pretty good! Hats off to you! I drove my car like it was stolen, but now I have to chill cause I just rebuilt my type 1, and have to break it in without breaking it. I full flowed my own case with a tap. Let me know, and I'll tell you how. When you do buy pushrod tubes, use empi stainless windage tubes. they really prevent valve cover leaks.

The aircooled.net kit is fine, GBE has true quality stuff, but you'll pay sooooo much for it. The kit from acnet i would personally trust as to be of great quality, John and those guys know what they are doing. Just stay away from these kits you see in the backs of vw mags. For one, they dont included a stock bluprinted and tapped oil pump, that right there shows me ac.nets customer service. Plus I heard that some of the aftermarket f/f pump covers are not the right alloy, and expand differently than everything else, and eventually may cause leaks.
GBE of course would be a great choice for parts, but you're going to be paying ALOT more. I would stick with ac.net.

I have a Berg kit on my personal engine and they are top quality but not cheap.
I always use a Berg cover because it's made of steel, all of the aluminium ones are total cr@p. I also like their filter adaptor as it has the ports on the correct side, both of these parts are only a couple bucks more then the cheap stuff. Their pumps are a bit pricey but they blueprint, hard anodize and cut it for an Oring, I do all this myself but most can't do these mods, so it may be worth the extra coin. The STD or SS hose, filter and fittings I can get locally for less money. That said their kit is very complete and has all the parts, fittings, filter, nuts and bolts etc. to get the job done. Well i ended up finding a used gene berg full show cover at a swap meet for $10, all it needed was a little sandblasting, some paint (VHT engine paint) and surfacing (sanding on a glass so all gear marks are gone, and everthing is flat and shinny) considering the cover alone new IS $30 bucks, i think i got a good deal on it.
I wanted to use AN fittings and stainless braided hose so i sprung and picked some up localy (AN -8 by Russell) a little expensive, but they are reusable, easy to disconect, dont leak and they look very nice. Right now i just need to get a filter addaptor, and need to figure out were i want to mount it to... any recomend places to mount it? BTW i have not gotten the filter addaptor An fittings for that end becuase i dont know where i want the filter yet, or the hose. Later, Jonathan
