K, so I'm down in SoCal. About 2 years ago I was living with my parents up in Northern Idaho. There I had the wicked chance to score 2 1.8L vanagon motors...both FI, for zero dollars. Anyways, i moved here, going to school, with my current bug on jack stands as we speak (tranny mounts, new booties, shocks). Tonight I found out that my 2 1.8L were, *gulp*.....stolen..........damnit.

I knew it was going to be years till I had my dream 2.6 in a 1302, but I was one step ahead with those blocks.

OH well, it could be worse, at least Im not dead. !@#$ happends.

Man I hate people who steal.. and then the psycological impact it has..

If they want it that bad, go work and get there own

I had a similiar situation.. Hurt my back in Feb, was doing very light work, going to the doc, only to find out the following:
-docs string you along
-your like cattle to them
-you have to do your homework
-when you find the right doc milk him for info and services

long story short, I have made a mess of my back, have bulges, a herniated disk, and pain.. Well now I am heading to a surgeon to see what he says..

So my dreams of finishing my bug have been stolen too..
Just like you hope I can get better, and continue with the dream.. (This bug has so much sentimental value to me)

I hate theives. Today at work someone brought their little 50cc dirt bike engine in with a locked rear wheel. We ran the VIN to check for warranty and found out an interesting fact, the frame number doesn't match the engine number. We already rebuilt his engine (top end) about 6 months ago and he was trying to get some more work for free. It looks like he or his kid jumped the bike so hard that the frame bent and it exploded the trannsmision and twisted the crankshaft. So he decided to get a new (stolen) frame to bring the bike in for work and play dumb. Long story short the stolen frame (unit) was sold to a dealer in Kentucky and never registered. So to recap he stole ( or bought a stolen ) another bike for its frame.
Tried to steal warranty dollars from Yamaha.
And robbed us of valuable time which we could have spent working on GOOD customers bikes.
Someone is in alot of trouble. I hate theives...

Sorry about your back have you tried a really good chiropractor, massage therapy and exercise? Try to exhaust (!!) all possibilities before going under the knife.

Did try that route for like 3-4 months, as well as physical therapy..

There was some relief, and I was getting better.. But something happened like two weeks ago (unsure) and some nerves got pinched.. Now I have endless spasms, and had some pain down my leg.. which is not a good sign as that probably indicates Cyatic (sp) nerve pinch.. Problem is that there is damage or trauma in different spots along the L, S and T reginion..

My wife has the same thougths about holding out.. I have heard mixed results.. Like I mentioned I will talk to some highly specialized people at the Hospital for Joint Disease Institute or something.. and see what they say..

If no surgury options arise I will definitely explore those, as well as the less intrusive surgical options.. Any recommendations welcome..

I just want to play with my BUG but for now I will just wait and see..
