front beam mods for improvement

hey
Im not happy with the ride and handling of the front of my bug, the front is a quite harsh ride, any suggestions for improvements??
currently got spax shocks, adjustable front beam, wound down, uprated anti roll bar and porsche 944 brake setup. The track is too wide really and could do with being narrower!

currently thinking
coil over suspension setup as red nine but, home brewed
narrowed front beam, about an inch or two
dropped spindles

Im thinking the dropped spindles mean further before the balljoints bottom out, narrowing because dropped spindles will push the wheels out into arches.
coilover setup so the suspension can be dialed into my preffered height.

may also shorten top tube on the beam to give greater camber.

any thoughts??

I currently have a narrowed front beam, then I had to add spacers to keep my wheels clear of the shock mount. I'm thinking that a full width suspension with shock mounts relocated in a bit, using coilover shocks with spherical ends for movement. I'd keep the torque springs , maybe remove a couple, but use adjusters that have been left free, that way they'd act as a roll bar, add or remove leafs till its where you want.
