Good Question...
First off, I wasnt aware there was a 65mm offset in the 16 x 7 Phones??? Well, if there is, here is what you need to know... I had a 71 Super and I had to run narrow struts/springs (80mm, stock is 120). I ran 17 x 7 et55 wheels and had to run a 10mm spacer to get the wheels off of the springs. This is not an issue on the later supers as they have a 10mm per side wider track width. Nor is this an issue is you are converting to 944 brakes, because depending on the method, you track width will increse as well. I was running the stock drums, redrilled to the Porsche pattern. You would need to run a narrowed strut/spring and a 20mm spacer to use those wheels. This is of course if you are running the stock drums in the front, the spacer will get smaller if you are changing to Porsche brakes.

The good thing about Phones is that there are lots of options
![]() You could run the 65mm offsets in the rear and then get a narrower wheel in the front to minimize clearance issues. Like a 16x6 53et or 15x6 53et.
