Trunk paint dilemma
I used spray undercoating on my '72 Super Beetle's trunk to prevent rust, and as undercoating usually is, it smears easily. I have now changed my mind, and decided to use splatter paint in the trunk. My question is now what should I do? I don't know whether to sand down the undercoating some, spray the splatter paint, and apply a spray clear coat, or if this too will end up smearing. Any ideas?

What kind of undercoating did you use? Not to sure what you mean by "smear." You could get and undercoating remover and just get rid of it. I wouldn't paint over it. It seems like if you painted over it and something hit it, the undercoating would give a little and the paint would chip off.
