Could this car have something to do with VW possible joining the WRC circus?

Not with 627bhp they can't and Group B died in the '80s. Making a quick car with 300bhp is different to making one with 600+bhp. It would be interesting to put a current WRC car up against this on anything other than a dry tarmac race track. I'm not saying that its rubbish but this is closer to a Pike Peaks car rather than a WRC car.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't know Volkswagen had brought back the Scirocco until I was hunting down some goodies for my Eos that wasn't offered in the states about a year ago. Supposedly, VW didn't want to compete with the GTI in the US market. That Scirocco is nuts. I'd probably hurt myself from smiling if I were riding shotgun, too. I was also intrigued by the shifter position. Having driven neither so not really knowing, I think I would prefer that shifter to the paddles. Maybe some day, I will have a hands-on experience or two.
