Nice. Makes me want to hurry up with my car and get it done. Although I could build ten of my cars for what that one costs.

Let's be generous here, a new 993RS (real) engine is now about $25K complete, new RS gearbox about $5K, suspension about $2K, wheels/tires $3K, seats and instruments $3K, cherry Ghia for conversion $10K so this leaves you with another $200,000 to pay for the labor and misc. costs to duplicate this car. Heck, I'll build you one just like it for only $150K total...
OK wait how about $100,00 total and eight months...

Real nice car, hilarious price tag.

Thanks,

Randy

I suspect these guys are still shocked by how much time they spent nitpicking on every single part. Yeah, the cost is crazy. I think most of it is time. It also is not as simple a project as you might think just looking at it. That was one of there goals I'm sure, to make it look like not much was done.

If you care to look around, this is a completely custom chassis, with Mac strut front end. I doubt that except for the body shell, there arent' any VW parts left on this KG, its all Porsche or custom. Thats why the $ keep adding up. I think they could have got the same or better results with much less work though.

LOL! nice car! they spent all that time and money and all they could afford was a $150 stereo head unit!!?? i have that very same unit in my car! it's nice, but if i could afford to have a car like that, i think i could afford a much nicer stereo too!

still a bad *** looking car!!! :agree:

As they say some people charge for blue sky too...

If they said it was for sale for $ 100,000.00 I would think it would cover time, machine work, and a tidy profit. $ 150,000 would be trolling for those with more money than brains. $ 250,000 plus is hoping the Sultan of Brunai has a childhood fixation with Ghias, as I doubt anyone else could bring themselves to pay that much for a Ghia.

Do not get me wrong I think the car is awesome. All I was saying is the parts alone are not worth more than $50K and almost $200,000 to just build a Ghia might be excessive. Wonder what labor rate that is?

Thanks,

Randy

$200,000 divided by 2,000 man hours = $100 dollars per hour.

That brings up a good point, what is your car worth in just labor costs alone if you were to pay yourself. I know I already have at least 300 hours in mine so thats $30,000 already.

Look at why they have not one picture with the front wheels in a straight line...: the fender does not cover them nicely.
Also I dont like fenders on a Ghia being widened. Not for that kinda money anyway.

Walter
