Does anyone know if it is legal in California, to drive the bug without rear fenders? I have some crazy custom ideas that involve removal of rear fenders, and I want to make sure this will be legal.
I know I've seen old hotrods like '32 fords rolling around without them, so I doubt it is a problem, but I can't seem to find a straight answer. Thanks, Shaolin

As long as all required safety equipment is on the rear then there's really nothing they can say.
Have at it. Behemoth

Yes, it is illegal in CA to run without fenders. Have I seen cars without them....Yes. I guess it depends on the mood of the CHP that day.
