Went to see a buddys car..wierd!

I went to see a buddies car. His dad bought it in the late 70s and stoped driving it in 83, 84. I saw it, and said..hmm this looks a little long and square in the back..

It's a corvair powered buggy. It's got a full back seat! I went out to check out the suspension and it's got double wishbones in front! And it's not on any VW pan I've ever heard of. It's on a standard frame? What is it? It must be fast! It's got IRS in the rear (from what I don't know.. doesn't look like anything I've seen before. The gauges are mounted on the floor where a center console would be in a "new normal car"..

Any ideas?
