mid engine?

I've been toying with the idea of going rotary, now I've been at other websites asking some detailed question, as I don't hear about to many rotarys here. But was hoping in case you guys might be able to help me out about some tranny stuff. here's the idea

Would it be possible to flip and raise a type I tranny like in a rail to go mid engine with a rotary? It looks like the adaptor plate that kennedy sells offsets the rx7 motor higher, is this true is there more ground clearance, if so could I made be put the engine above the Y at the frame horns right adove the torsion tubes and still keep the axles relativly in line? Or would the axles be at too much of an angle?

I understand that thi would mean making a shift linkage that worked, but because now that the tranny has flipped what does it take to get me moving forward, flipped R&P? I know that midengine rail guys do this but I don't know what they do, or how much it will cost. Any clue on how much to get a type I tranny to be used in the mid engine situation?

thanks
