Question rear anti roll bar for IRS'd 944 braked 62 split van

I'm getting my 62 split panel van IRS'd and fitted with 944 rear disks and want to fit a rear anti roll bar so would appreciate some help. From what I've seen on www.performanceghia.com and www.924.org/techsection/10suspension.htm I should be able to fit a 944 anti roll bar with a bit of work.

From looking at the 924.org there seems to be two different ways to attach the antiroll bar, which method is best? From the picutures for one method it seems that I need to get mountings welded onto the torsion bar, but I dont know what needs to be done to the springplates.

Also, I want the handling of my van to be as good as possible without causing a back breaking ride and so am looking to make further improvements. Upfront the kingpins are being replaced with balljoints, 944 brakes and an uprated anti roll bar. The rear is as I've said above getting IRS'd and 944 disks, also a One On One(v.similar to berg) middle mount for the gearbox. What else could be/worth being done? Would a CSP torque bar fit and would it be worth doing? What about a traction bar? Which shocks would be good? The van is going to run on 16" Fuchs with 195/45R16s up front and (probably) 205/55R16s (maybe a 50 profile) out back and is lowered but not ridiculously slammed.

All opinons, advice, etc. appreciated

Ta!

Good ideas. You are on the same track as me on my '66.

I have a 944 weld on clamp style rear sway bar I hope to get on mine. Not sure how the demension are yet as I have not mocked it up yet.

Are you going to try the 1" sway in the front?

... More to come.

Smile anti roll bar

Pillow, I didnt know sway did a 1" bar for the front, I thought as big as they went was 7/8", I'll have to look into it.

Hot66, what sort of ££ am I looking at for your kit and do you know what I'd need to do about fitting it with regard to things like the springplates?

Was also wondering if a type 1 IRS rear anti roll bar would work?

If you don't mind me hijacking the roll bar - I will buy it Mrsmythe and try and fit it next week. Haven't put on my spring plates yet so I can still modify them to fit and then let you know?

Can't see a reason why a type1 kit would not work though - the dimensions are all similar...
