Here's what I would do....
44x38 valves WebCam 86a (may differ depending on your needs, depenging on track/course, min. rpm, max. rpm and some other factors) Carbs-you will need at least 34mm vents to make good top end power Install good rods with strong bolts so you can rev it safely Get the best balance job you can. Light weight valve train parts are always a good investment in a competition engine. The 914 flywheel will not work unless you are installing a 901 5 speed. Use a 210/215mm bus flywheel for a type 1 trans. Dry sump-COOL but not necessary. Lots of 914s race without drysumps, the "tuna can" sump extension from Weltmeister seems to help a lot. I would use good forged flat top pistons-94.5mm dia. so you can maximize your displacement for your class=1992cc. no sense giving away HP and torque to your competitors... I would set the compression to 9.5-1 or so, more if you can run race gas Exhaust header is going to make or break your combination. BAS is good, Tangerine is better. Both are expensive.... I built my own to match my engine and use. ken |
