I would do a really big type 4 with all the trick tech available like cryo, coatings, nickies, custom forged rods/pistons, trick euro heads, light weight valve train, carbon fiber valve covers and 911 shroud, supercharger/intercooler and fire it with a programable EFI/ignition. Bolt it to a 915 5 speed and have a ball... (until my DL is suspended...)

Holzapfel engine?
Ok, I've had a quick search on the internet... what is a Holzapfel engine? I've never heard of anything like this....
Or is there a joke hidden in here somewhere? MG

2.4L Type 4, with a set of cut down 911 heads
programmable fuel injection and quad throttlebodies micropolished internals and B.A.S. Beetle Cup exhaust system all tucked nicely into my '54 oval. for cooling I'd have to go with One of Jake's 911 setup still in development, in carbon fibre. mated to a porsche AWD Box

I am not sure if my data is correct but here I go anyways:
The Holzapfel engine is based on the T4 with 993 heads with EFI. Pics are in the engine gallery. Dr Gerold's Race Super has the engine in the back. In race trim the engine produces 280hp for the street I believe it was about 250hp. This is a NA engine. Pics are in the gallery here at Germanlook ....where else: http://www.germanlook.com/Functions/...mages/0064.jpg http://www.germanlook.com/Functions/...mages/0065.jpg Another option would be a 2.6-2.8 T4 with Apfelbeck heads (pic in the engine gallery) ...if you find them. Two T4s with them reached the 100hp per liter mark. Those are the only T4s that had those heads as far as I know. Alex |

You nailed it vujade! The engine in that pic is what I would want!
Who wants to chip in on the "Buy Yeti a Trick Type IV Fund"?:silly: Back to reality, I'll settle for a 2.3 with Dell's Yetibone P.S. I know it's out of Mike's criteria, but I hatched a truly whacked out Beetle drivetrain idea from a car I had to work on Thursday... 500cid Cadillac V8, TH425 Transaxle; straight from the Battleship Eldorado!:toilet: (ok... so mabye that was a bad dream)

I would run a 69mm crank with 94mm cylinders forged crank wedge mated, forged aluminum rods and pistons, heads adapted off a twin cam four valve cylinder 911 motor with true hemispherical chambers. Ceramic on the heads and pistons, supercharger with intercooler, and hilborn fuel injection. EFI with four 54mm throttle bodies for the street. A modified EFI to inject a methanol water mixture to control head temperature with a 911 fan. A six speed lds with paddle shifters. Home made exhaust with supertrapp tunable mufflers, fully programable MSD ignition system so I could shift with out lifting the throttle. A thirty gallon gas tank so I could go to the store and back without having to stop for gas.
Big sigh! Ain't gonna happen. Stress is having to write a Harry Potter romance story and keep it G-rated so your kids can read it. Futher stress is when you did such a good job on the first one you are asked to write three more. |

Jeez, now you guys got me thinking about my dream motor, oh wait I'm ALWAYS thinking about my dream motor...here goes
JAKE BUILT 2270 "Z" NEW case Remmele Heads Nickies CR around 9.5 DTM Cryoed Ceramic everywhere EFI Remmele exhaust Mated to (heres the REALLY expensive part, like $10K , no joke) a QUAIFLE (sp?) 6speed Tranny but...If I ever have kids and wanna send 'em to college, I could settle for a 901 5speed oh, and driven daily of course :silly: If not Aircooled, I would consider the Renesis rotory motor (the one in the RX8) That thing is like 1.3L and pumps out almost 240 horses. Mate that to a 901 (time to call up KEP!!) and see what happeneds!!

I think I would just call Jake and ask him to build that wild/sick engine that he has kicking around in his head(and note books). Nickies, cryo'ed, don't hold nothing back.
