this is what i got from the offset calculator. hope it's accurate
I have 17x7, ET 40mm on my '72 Super with the Maxx Struts from Topline. They tuck neatly, some might say perfectly, inside my front fenders. I always use this wheel size and offset as sort of a reference point when considering other wheels. As far as I know, 8 inch wide wheels will NOT fit up front with stock suspension and fenders without sticking out/rubbing, I may be wrong. It is well worth it to make sure you know the EXACT measurements of the old and new wheels before making any "purchases." Look at Phat73VW's wheels, he has a '73 Super and helped me out big time when fitting my wheels. Good luck!
