I think you got the clue

A 2 liter Type 4 will give around 8 seconds to 60/62 mph in a normal 1303 (which is kinda heavy).

Cool! A 1303 and Fastback weigh almost the same , IIRC, so my 1800 EFI type 4 will be pretty quick

There's no big fun in stamping on the loud pedal, side stepping the clutch and power shifting gears IMHO. The biggest fun is through the twisties where it lasts longer. In my book and based on 40 years of experience handling is where its at and I am happy with a bog standard motor until the overall package can cope with more power.
Things like 0-60(62) times are purely academic and only really fit for the lushes in the bar. On the rare occasions that I have out of curiosity tried a 0-60 time I could not match the published figures and on one occasion I was a full 1/2sec quicker hence my scepticism on their usefulness. If you are competitive then all that matters is the time taken in getting from A-B through skill challenging roads, not how quickly you can get from one traffic light to the next.
