i've used a wooden popsicle stick to help the seal along because it doesn't maul the paint and it works. and you get to eat ice cream before you start!

Yep, I require haagen dazs bars before I do window rubber.
Also, tape up your fingers before you start working the rubber out. The wooden stick is pretty good at rubbing large portions of your index finger's skin off and you won't notice it 'till it's too late. Or maybe that's just me  .
