Regarding your idea (cutting torsion tube)
PM your email address, I will send you some info on our products.
Depending on your set up, the type I may not be up to the job if power and torque are to high. If you decide on a porsche 5-speed box down the road our parts or similiar can be of help to you. NO cutting of the torsion tube needed. Will email plent of info, FYI. VR Alex

I just removed the reverse switch and fitted the standard blanking plug, even that had to be ground down a bit to clear...

Thats kinda what I was thinking, but I still would like to have reverse lights, I'm planning on using a berg shifter but don't have it yet, I'm wondering if you could wire a switch into the shifter reverse button or something, just thinking outloud...

Hi
Do what Ricola said with the blanking plug. I saw a contraption made up on an early bug once. It was a door light switch mounted on a bracket on the shift coupling, when reverse was selected the switch touched the cover plate turning the lights on. The other way is a fairly rare part these days, its a sensor that fits on the speedo cable and turns the reverse lights on if the car moves backwards, it can take almost a complete wheel revolution for the lights to come on. Thats a good idea with the door switch Steve, I'll have to play around with that a bit. I just got the tranny to where it needs to be today and now to get the timing covers to fit in there! tons of fun
