yes use a flip it kit and mount the tie rods from above. i think it's even worse when the strut is fully extended and at the very least your mot man will fail it. don't ignore this as it is dangerous.

we have zero vehicle checks here in illinois or kentucky, so my entire front end could be wired together and no one would care, but i definitely want to do it right instead of ghetto-fabulous.
and oddly enough, i know at least two other Eatoniashoprats. ok, not really. looks like i'll be shopping for a flip kit.
