A steel pulley does dampen better and evens out a ceratin amount of harmonic vibrations.I personally believe it is not necessary if the flywheel,crank and pulley have been dynamically balanced together.

What size pulley?
Here in Osaka the the temp reach 35~7degrees and about 95humidity.
What size pulley should I run with my 11blade 911 fan( 2.0L engine). More stop than go driving here in Japan. Unfortunately!  Advise appreciated Dean
