Re: brake problem help asap!!!!
Hello-
hey i resently took my whole pedal assembly out .......... and i put it back in and its all workin great except for the brakes ....... now when i hit the brake pedal its really light and it doesnt feel like its hittin the brakes at all ...so i tested it and now when i hit the brakes it slams on the brakes and skids no matter how light i touch the brakes .... so what could be the problem here? Sounds like something is screwy with the brake pushrod... First, do a visual inspection - make sure nothing obvious is odd or out of place with the pushrod or pedal assembly. Sometimes it's something really obvious... like a tool you left behind the pedal cluster or something... :-) Make sure the pushrod is nice and in-place in the MC, too. Then, loosen the jam nut that allows adjustment (15mm wrench size?). Back out the pushrod a bit, and try moving the brake pedal. There should be some pedal movement that has ZERO resistance - the pushrod hasn't yet even engaged against the MC. If not, back it out more until you definately feel it. Then, screw it back in until the pedal freeplay is somewhere around ~1/8-1/4" - just enough above zero to keep you out of trouble :-). Tighten the nut. Double-check the freeplay again. Take care,
