Porsche 5 speed into type3 ?
I've done a bit of searching and haven't found anything about putting these gearboxes in a type3.
I've got a notchback (1965) that I've been toying with the idea of a 5 speed in. It's a swingaxle of course - but the (rear) subframes on these cars just unbolt - so it'd be easy enough to bolt in an IRS subframe. Any ideas out there? feasability ? Thanks, Dan |

Daniel,
We had a customer in Netherlands who put a 914-gearbox into a type 3 notchback. Not sure how applicalble but he had stated that it was best to use the model without IRS and then weld in the IRS brackets. The reason is, that this model has the frame horns like the Beetle, the other one doesn´t. No further problems with the conversion, and the bugat5speed parts.. Just a data point for your.. If you would like more info on the conversion feel free to PM or email. Hope that helped VR Alex
