Racing the GL
Took the beetle racing today and surprised the hell out of a bunch of people. It was loud, fast and stuck in the corners, putting smiles on more than a few faces.
The struts are toast, rear shocks are definitely going, and I desperately need a kafer brace, but given those deficiencies I didn't do too badly. I was on aggressive street tires, springs were dialed in, and at the limit it was completely predictable. With a few new pieces and slicks I think I could give the d-mod buggies a run for their money. I also had a chance to use my new gopro camera and it does a pretty good job. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpJDM3gxiz8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT6g5zU3wn4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmVm3nAUJhw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtBbBBiU96c

Just watched your clips. NICE!
The video is pretty clear. How did you mount it? Did you use the suction cup on the rear 1/4 window? Where did you get that cam from? Anyone else want one of these, group buy? Pete

It's a gopro hd motorsports camera found here: http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php...2&productid=30
You can barely see it stuck to the passenger side rear quarter window, just above the headrest in the 2nd photo. It's a pretty good suction cup mount and there were quite a few of these cameras out at the event. I think I paid $330 or so including tax for mine. |

Looks like you had a blast. Nice videos. I could get in trouble with one of those on the street.

Hi Humble,
Great videos. I must complement you on the location and view panorama of the camera, I got a real sense of the drives and I could see enough of the course to see how it all flowed. I wish all race/road car footage was this well done! (I hate narrow perspectives that make you feel like a blinkered horse sitting on the bonnet) Clive |

Jak, I'm not that tall only 6'/182cm but I think the 1303 seating position is a little high to start with. I definitely want to lower the seat or replace it with something that holds me a little better.
Clive, that's one of my biggest pet peeve's about in car video too. I think it turned out especially well in the beetle since you can see the pedals as well. I've tried several video setups and I think I like this one the best. I think I might sell my old video camera and get another gopro |

I was just shy of the 7k rpm limit on the msd on the first two slaloms. I probably could have used 3rd but I was already going into the corners a bit hot as it was.
