Brake Rotor to Hub
I have a new Socal 5 lug rotor that I want to conveert into a hub. The thickness of the rotor where the studs press into is .500 thick. Anyone know of how much you can machine off the face and still be safe. Or does anyone know of how thick the Porsche hubs are? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you need to machine the face down? If you cut away the rotor part and are left with the center section, I'm not sure why you'd make that area thinner...

I am trying not to push the wheels out any more plus I am havig trouble locating a stud long enough to travel thru the hub, rotor and wheel. I have only found 1 stud at the local parts house that is long enough for the uncut rotor and wheel that I am currenly using. Do you know of a better supplier of wheel studs?

Longer wheel studs are available over here from most motorsports suppliers, I can't think it would be any different where you are. As an example (Demon Tweeks are our biggest supplier in UK):

Hi
Porsche make some pretty long ones, also front ones from 73-79 Bay window bus are very long as well. Where are you its not in your profile? If you were in Australia you could buy them from these people http://www.niceproducts.com.au/catal...heel/wheel.php Steve

I'm starting to wonder about your offset on your wheels?

I found the manufacturer of the studs for U.S. automobiles suppliers. The company is Dorman. I was able to locate a stud that will work but Autozone has to order them. I am running 16x6 1/2" wheels but I cant remember the offset. I turned the rotor down today and made just the hub. I am not sure if I am going to face the hub off at all. Still need to do a little more research.

My ghia. The front has been raised about 3/4" to 1". No rubbing at all. Sorry, I updated my profile and I am in Nashville TN.

Hey Flat_IV,
How has that disc-machined-down-to-rotor setup been working for you? |
