And cleaned up the rear brake unions so they look new again! ( Thanks to pruplebug for one of them!)
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So that’s as far as ive got so far on that Ive also fitted up the 996 seats to the beetle subframes by welding on some tabs ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also painted my gearbox painted, but ive just figured out I either need to get a different box, or strip this one to have the throw out bearing guide tube milled down (martin bott suggested this) so I can fit the bug@5speed conversion tube. Pretty gutted as I didn’t really want to do that and stripping the box looks like hassle. ![]() Done until next year now. have a good new year everyone!!! |

Nice work!
Your sure those are the (wider) turbo arms though? They seem to have the shorter outer nose (?) |

Thanks guys
![]() ![]() Wally - you are right they are the narrower turbo arms. Wally on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the difficulty of stripping down the 915 box? I've never done a box before. Cheers Deano |

There is no such thing as a 'narrow turbo arm', but hey who cares
![]() Just taken a 915 apart is really not that difficult in hindsight, you just need to overcome a barrier with yourself. Its more psychological than mechanical really ![]() You do need a good manual/parts sheet to get starting though. |

taller disc then lol. Cool, i think it just seems a bit intimidating if that makes sense. I read a rebuild thread and it looked straight forward but i gues you never know until you give it a go!

Right more of an update. fitted up the front fuel line fittings which was a pain and gave me a blister lol!
![]() mastercylinder painted and fitted. thinking about mounting the linelock here or bulkhead. ![]() i got my brake lines made up. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() body rubber hole punched and fitted ![]() Fitted up a temporary beam that was on the shelf – it appears it has no beam bearings and the torsion arms properly waggle around lol. Managed to get a second hand beam im goin to narrow to use until I get round to making one ![]() Then yesterday I got the body on and bolted it down today. Im WELL pleased ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Moving along very nice! I hope you plan on putting some sound-deadening in before interior is fitted though.

The Tilton piece, mounted on the tunnel by the shifter, it's a staging brake?

That would be a brake-bias valve. Used to adjust the balance between the front and rear brakes.
