Its a two fold plan....

First part of the plan consists of making it a low budget GL until my
other Show/drag car is completed....and part 2 consists of building a
full on street German Looker. Not necessarily a show car, but will be
built to show car quality. We be built with modern conviences for daily driving!!!

Part 1....
944 single pot brakes all around
Kerscher ball joints w/944 spindles
Lowered springs for stock struts
Cheap 15" Porsche wheels (phones, cookies, etc)
Running (1.7 or 2.0) T4 motor w/ cali conversion (for now)

Part 2 of the plan...
993T Brakes and Rotors
Kerscher Struts
Early Aluminum Trailing Arms
17" boxster wheels (or something similar)
2270 T4 w/ Factory AC
1" wider CCC rear fenders
and lots of modern amenities for daily driving

my work is Valerie.Pembroke@delta.com
val : and my home is chicagobears@comcast.net

:agree: Excellent plan. Perfect base for a GL. Exactly the base I'll look for when my 1302 is done. (One curious sidebar which in the grand scheme of things means absolutely nothing: Some previous owner swapped out the wheels which come on a La Grande for some basic Beetle wheels and hub caps.) Anyway, great find! :agree:

I'd leave it gold, that's a special edition La Grande Bug.

John
The body needs some work behind the rear vents and few other small
spots, but for the most part it is pretty clean. The floors are great,
except for the battery area. The car runs great, but needs suspension
and brake work because it shimmies and doesnt stop real well. It does
have a pretty new interior though, so overall it will make a nice daily
driver once I put a little work into it.

Sounds great man... I hope everything continues to pan out for you.

What color are you going to paint it? Or are you gonna leave it gold?

Looks like a great platform for a GL. Pull all the rubber bushings out of the front and install the good ones. That and a new damper should get the front end solid again. Find a donor 944 and get to it. :agree:
