Calling Ahnendorp would be better (as with most shops, you know that of course). You do need to know the exact the ring thicknesses though and the brand of the pistons would be good to know.
I am sure JohnC from aircooled.net can supply them also.

there the mahla 103mm pistons. no one does any replacment rings for them. have a set of total seal 103mm rings that dont fit and all the aftermarket ones are the wrong size.
I'll try ringing Ahnendorp again but allways seem to get the answer phone.

Mahle is the biggest piston manufactor in the world. I can hardly imagine an engine shop doesn't carry their catalog or can't get those sizes from a Goetze or any other good ring supplier.
Ahnendorp now carries a different brand pistons for 103, so they will probably not have any on the shelf, but you never now and I am sure they can also ring their (engine shop) supplier and order them for you.
Surely an engine shop in the UK is the more economic solution.
If you just have a broken one, I might be able to help you out as I have a 'broken' set of the mahle pistons with 'Motorsport' rings

I was talking to a vw tuner the other week and he said that mahle have stopped producing all things aircooled (barrels rings etc) since they stopped producing aircooled engines in South America last year. I can imagine if this is true that they would be like gold dust .

They are not specific aircooled at all. I even got some specific for nikasil 103 cylinders, which was a tiny bit more difficult.
Your not looking really for 102.90mm rings I suppose? The rings are sized by the cylinder bore which is very likely just still 103.00 mm, but I am sure you already knew that ;-)

they have to be mahla rings as they have used a unique size for there own pistons. no markings on the pistons bar the bore sixe which is making it hard work to match them to anything.
have tried everone in the uk and stateside tuning rang everone he knows to try and find a set.
i only really need 1 oil ring but a set would be better as there is some wear on them.
the total seal set i have is i think for j&e pistons and the rings groves are not deep enough for the rings, plus the second and oil ring are the wrong width for the pistons as well.

As I expected somewhat, they are made by Goetze. See pic for sizes and shape. I think this is what you meant? I kept the original box these came in...yeah, I am a freak

Did you break one while installing? What happened?

You can have this one free of charge. Lemme know if you can use it and I'll post it to you
