Plugs fouling

I am running a 1641cc motor
009
high-rev points
Bosch wires
dual 40mm Kadrons
041 mexican heads
Thunderbird exhaust

I am fuel fouling plugs #1 and #3 ?????
I can not fiqure out why. It would make more sense if it was plus 1&2 or 3&4 being one carb is feeding one side. Everytime I put in new plugs it fouls them in one day. I pull the wires while the motor is running and no change in idel speed on 1 & 3. I put in new plugs then change the wires to see if it was the wires but no change, 1 & 3 fouls out.

Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this???

hi
have you done a valve tune up lately and discovered that you had quite a bit of adjustment to do on those cylinders?

hi
so you havent had to tighten the valves up any amount to kkep the lash in spec , what i was aiming at is a cam going flat but thats a bit serious so lets rule out some simple stuff first!

have you built this motor do you know the condition of the heads ?
can you do a static compression test remember when you do this keep the throttle fully open . do a dry test then wet what are your pressures?

are your ignition parts in good order felt pad oiled new points good cap and wires points gapped set with a light ?

have you had your exhaust system off recently is it correctly fitted are you running a big header with stock heatexchangers?

give us a bit more info we,ll get there!

The only thing 1 and 3 have in common are heater boxes. check for exhaust leaks. Do you have a crossover tube installed?
Are you sure you tightened those two front intake nuts as much as the rears? triple check everything! Check for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner spray around the base of the manifolds. I used to have some dellorto FRD single barrels and there were problems once a week. vacuum leaks all over. as soon as you fix one another is starting.

valve lash is in good spec. This was a freshly built 2nd hand motor with about 2k on it. Before putting it in I checked the heads and they were in good shape. Have not done a wind test on it since I installed the motor. Ignition parts are all in good shape. I am running j-tubes no heat right now. On the carbs I have done the WD40 at the base check for leaks, got nothing. I am running the crossover tube on duals. I put the car on the lift today and tighten down everything I could find.

Sounds to me you are getting an uneven distribution of fuel mixture. Is you acc pump nozzle aimed towards the front cylinders on both carbs? Maybe try aiming it back a bit.
