Late EFI Bug fuel tank question

Hi

Can anyone tell me where the fuel in & out lines are located on a factory 1303 EFI bug fuel tank and what size they are?

I'm thinking of buying one for my new bug, but I don't want to get one all the way down here if they are unsuitable for my application .

Regards Steve

I believe that the outlet is in the same location as a carbureted bug tank, I do know for a fact that the size is 7mm for the efi vs. 5mm for a carb tank. I am just cutting the stock outlet out and welding a 1/2" npt fitting then a 8an (closest to 1/2") fitting into that to run an line, I haven't settled on a loop style return back into the feed line ahead of the pump or a return all the way back into the tank.

If you have a good tank just have some finttings welded in. The feed should come from the same spot in the tank sump area but a return could go anywere. Some of the replacement tanks are crap.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. I might as well stick with what I have if some of the new tanks are crap, it would be my luck to buy one and end up with a crap one.

I was running a surge tank fed by a Carter lift pump and local Holden (Chev) turbo EFI pump on my turbo WBX, I will reuse this set-up again.

The reason I thought about the factory EFI tank was to try and eliminate some components, mainly the lift pump and surge tank.

It is some while ago, but I had your exact thoughts to get a 1303 US-EFI tank. I found one from a us imported convertible, but IIRC I could not really use it after all...
So I wouldn't bother or take the risk. Just make your own, it will be better
