Question:slotting the maxx to look like 944 struts

Figured I try to contribute and at the same time ask questions..

I took a side by side comparision picture of the my Maxx vs 944 strut housings..

Here is what I found out.. from far side to inner hole one both the lower holes of the 944 and Maxx they are about 2 and 1/4 inches.. These were rough figures (for discussion purposes only)..

The upper holes are different.. one is slotted (944) vs non-slotted (Maxx).
The distance from far side to inner hole on 944 is 2 and 1/4 inches, while max was about 2 and 1/2.. Thus I would assume (*** u me) that I would need to slot my maxx 1/4 inch to look like the 944.. BTW the picture of the maxx upper is hard to make out, but there is about a 1/4 inch difference..

Is this assumption correct.. if so what should I use as far as tools..

Lastly the 944 has a bump on it for using camber bolts, how do we duplicate this on the Maxx..

I enclosed some preliminary pictures..
Thanks
Alex
