Cb Performance header or A1 Sidewinder?
If given the choice, which header would you use for a T1 engine, CB performance turbo header or modify an A1 sidewinder with a T3 flange?

I'm going with the CB to start with but I have to modify it and weld on a T4 flange. I was also looking at the A1 but for the moment I can't justify the cost.

I have the A-1 with the vband and I'm going to just make a short pipe from the vband to the t-3 flange. The vband is the way to go if some thing breaks or you change combos back to Na,you just put you muffler back on in a minute,no gaskets or anything.

86svo,
That's exactly what I was thinking by going with the A1. |

I love you man!
That's what I'm thinking of. I would imagine the A1 has great scavenging and will keep exhaust flow / velocity up for good response from the turbocharger. The inverse of that is that the CB header would actually be better due to the very short runs which would make up for the 'balanced' A1 exhaust flow. Plus, it's alot less money. |

Hi
Running a nice 4 into 1 set-up will help the motor perform off boost, but you will need to careful that you don't loose gas speed to the turbo with incorrect sizing of the up pipe. Steve

i am running about 350 bhp with a cb exhaust, darran at aircooled performance has dynoed his racecar with a modified cb system at 508 bhp at the wheels so i would say the cb system should be up to it and cheap

My main concern was that a 1 1/2" system would be best for the engine size and the 1 5/8" is slightly oversized. I can get the A1 in 1-1/2 whereas the Cb is only in 1-5/8

My header is 1 5/8s,the engine is a 1776,the turbo exhaust houseing is a .48,I got it big because I plan to build a bigger engine in a year or two after everything is sorted out.Maybe a 2332 or something similar.I kinda expect it to be sluggish somewhat,we will see.
