i have a slightly different variation that uses a city light inside the headlight for a dim glow. as i understand it, a euro law for driving at dusk. i will be wiring them as parking lights and using the parking lights for turns (i am using early light buckets).

I lived in Italy for two years and we could use our "city lights" anytime at night in any area that had public lighting. I'm not sure what the law was in Germany at the time.

The euro spec cars do not have parking lights in the front nor side markers. I had a VW Polo and when the light switch was put in the 1st position only the rear tail lights and front city lights (in the headlamps) would come on. The amber light did not come on in the front bumper. That was how it was for marking lights on most of the cars I saw there. Some of the newer cars had USA style lighting (amber marker lights in front and on the front/side) but that was probably to cut down on production line time not a law per say.

The plans you have to wire the bulbs as described, I had done that to a friend's car back in 1990 and it worked out quite well. However, at night when the 1156 would flash the whole headlamp would look amber as if it were one of those yellow fog light type of headlamps. We never had any problems with the police but I didn't like the look of it because it didn't look factory. It didn't bother my friend but if it were my car I would have made some type of reflector plate behind the amber bulb.

Do you plan to put 911 lenses also? They look good on the early Bugs.

samcat, that is hillarious. what a great idea. need some red ones. :wowwow:

super, i bought some parachute ambers from CB just to see what they look like. it will probably be just more of the same as what you described i guess. never seen this setup at night yet. i have to agree that that is not what i am shooting for, but for as much as i will be running at night, it is probably not an issue.

as for your question, i am running speedster grills. i painted everything on them body color. and damn it looks sweet on the car. here is a pic i took right when i got them back from paint. the coloring is off in this pic though.

i am saving a pic of them on the car for when i get a little closer to being done in a month.

sorry bullet, didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.

Yea this is actually a duplicate thread because this topic is posted here:

I'll close this thread because the above one has actual pictures of the lights. Use the above thread for any replies.
