Question 17"and 18" rims

When using 17" and 18" rims and tires do you have to use wider than stock fenders?

Also depends on what car you have. Super's require a narrow strut/coil-over, like the MaXX struts from Topline. Standards may require a narrowed beam. Again, this all depends on offset and width.

I am about to put 17x7 and 17x8.5 Boxster turbo twist wheels on my 72 super. I have stock front fenders with MaXX struts. In the rear, I have 1.25" wider fenders and a 1" spacer. I also have to shave a few things down for clearence.

Tell us what width and offset you want, and we can help figure out what you need.

I am planning on running 17x7 et40 up front with maxx struts with stock fenders and 18x8.5 et19 in the rear with a 2" wider fender... should work with no spacers if my math is correct.

thats what i mean.. width and offset are critical.. for example the rims on the car below (Vauxhall VX220 in the UK, opel speedster in europe) are 5.5x17 up front and 7.5x17 in the back and are fitted as stock with 175/55/17 and 225/45/17 respectively.. by my reckoning these would fit a super without the need for max struts or wider wings (fenders to you) making life VERY easy.. hubs drilled to 5x100 PCD being the only requirement...
