944 torsion bar covers
I have a set of 944 aluminum torsion bar covers and wonder if there is noticeable handling improvements? Also I have not modified them to fit yet and was wondering if anyone here has?
Thanks |

Hai,
I've sawed off the alu arm and fitted it with the rest of the 944 turbo rear suspension on my 1303. Fits fine, but its otherwise the same as standard steel (rusted trough) IRS part, so no handling gains from that. Looks very nice, since its aluminium and polishable... You will need sligthly longer bolts as I remember, because its a bit thicker. Good luck, Walter |

If you run late(r) 944 rear suspension, you might want to use early (60's) 911 torsion bar covers. They will fit over the stock outer rubber that the 944 springplate comes with. They look exactly like VW torsion bar covers, except deeper, it makes for a very neat install. If your springplates need the rubber replaced, use the outer rubber of same (60s) 911.
Hope it helps, Brian |
