0 - 60 mph performance
Hello,
I'm looking at getting a super beetle for a project in the coming months. I would like to build a German Look beetle with a large type 4 air cooled engine. I would be interested in the 0 - 60 times of anyone who has built a bug up to a similar spec. This would probably be mainly UK members, 60mph is the national speed limit in the UK and the bench mark performance time for most cars. I would like the performance to be comparable to the current crop of "Hot Hatches" in the UK, 0 - 60 of about 6.5 seconds. Failing that 1/4 mile and 1/8 times would be useful. I know that there is more to a cars performance than the 0 - 60 time, handling, chassis design, suspension etc but it would be nice to have a benchmark. Cheers Mike |

70mph is our national speed limit
and 0 to 60 times aren't often referenced, but 0 to 62 times are ! cos 62 miles is 100 kilometers, i think some motoring journo's way back when decided that it would be a nice round number to use |

I've never timed my 0-100km/h but was about 2-3 car length ahead of an STI off the line and also 05 M3. T4 2.7.

Thanks SilverBullet that's the knid of performance i was looking for, after a lots of hard work of course.
Now I all I have to do is find a beetle, restore it and put a large engine in it. |

Not only a large engine but also a correct gearing on the gearbox, lightening of the bug will give better results. But dont forget the ultimate, safety.
