Painting CF?
So, I am in the process of ordering a pair of LA Performance carbon fiber bumpers and kamei airdam. Now, I want to paint the bumpers except for the area that usually gets taped, for a subtle touch. The question is how do I go about painting on CF? Is there any special prep work that needs to be done to the parts?
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how to treat the CF airdam, let me know here. I am undecided between keeping it 100% raw or painting it partially.

Go to your nearest "Books A Million" store and pick up a copy of the July issue of HCi...(Hot Compact & Imports). This is a new import tuner mag that I think has only been in print for 2-3 issues so far. They have a 4 page how-to article including pixs on painting a Acura carbon fiber hood. The hood is partially painted with exposed carbon fiber which sounds like what your planning. It briefly goes step-by-step into surface prep, sanding, taping off, painting, clear coating and buffing.
I'm in the process of getting a carbon fiber hood for GL which will be partially painted. |

Do you have the mag? If so, can you scan the article? I don't know if it's sold around here, but I'll give it a shot.
Thanks for the tip!
