Best Engine that fits the bug

hiya guys i have a 1972 SB, id like to know whats the best engine that fits in the rear, ive thought of getting a simple type 4, but id like to know whats the best porsche engine that fit sin it, aircooled of course.

The type 4 would be the way to go. To put a 6 cyl in it would require lots of work and I think you would have to add some lenght to the rear of the car.

but what the latest type 4 that fits in it, or could a regular bus type 4 fit in nice and still give me some nice HP

All Type IVs will fit if you do an upright conversion to them...
